Helen M. Wall

Health Advocacy

While living in Ethiopia with her obstetrician-gynecologist husband, Helen M. Wall witnessed how the lack of reliable menstrual products caused many girls to miss school and fall behind in their education. Determined to address the problem, she co-founded Dignity Period in 2014, a St. Louis-based charity that provides menstrual health education and distributes washable, reusable pads to students in Ethiopia and now the United States. Dignity Period Kits have reached more than 400,000 students worldwide and over 20,000 in the St. Louis and Seattle regions.

Helen’s international volunteer service also includes co-founding The Fewsi Foundation for Victims of Conflict Violence and supporting The Worldwide Fistula Fund. Across her work, she develops practical solutions that improve daily life for women and families around the world.
