Jill began her volunteer service following a 30-year teaching career, when one of her own children came out as a member of the LGBTQ community. She is the founder of the St. Charles PFLAG chapter.  PFLAG is a national network of volunteer-led support and education groups for parents, families and friends of LGBTQ individuals. Since its founding, Jill estimates that the St. Charles PFLAG chapter has supported over 400 families.  She is the president of the Ethical Society of Mid Rivers and serves on the American Ethical Union Board of Directors. She served as the Board vice president of the LGBT Center of St. Louis and co-founded Pride St. Charles.
