Mendi Baker

Military Family Advocacy
Mendi Baker believes in giving back and making a difference in the community and has demonstrated this principle by volunteering with several nonprofit organizations throughout her life. She prefers most of all to highlight their vitally important work. Mother to two veterans, Mendi is especially passionate about serving veterans. She feels it is a debt we owe to those who have served in our nation’s military.
Since 2014, she has served in various capacities at Camp Hope, a non-profit organization that provides peaceful, all-expenses-paid retreats for wounded veterans to relax, find camaraderie, and heal. Visitors might spot Mendi preparing/serving meals to guests, driving fundraising events, or fixing a door on one of Camp Hope’s cabins, but every service is an honor to support the wounded veterans who visit. Mendi also believes strongly in public education and the availability of arts to the community. Outside of Camp Hope and spending time with her family, she has volunteered for many years with Wentzville Schools, currently with the All Sports Boosters at Timberland High School, and with St. Louis Shakespeare Festival. She also previously volunteered with the James S. McDonnell USO and Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure in St. Louis.
